Work in the group Kreutz is focused on advancing stable isotope labeling protocols for nucleic acids. The main research interest lies on the synthesis of 13C/15N/2H labeled RNA phosphoramidites and triphosphates that can be used to introduce simple spin topologies into a nucleic acid target. To this end chemo-enzymatic syntheses are developed to give high yield, robust and efficient synthetic access to the desired 13C/15N/2H-labeled compounds. The labeling protocol can be used to apply state of the art NMR experiments, including chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST), relaxation dispersion experiments or paramagnetic relaxation enhancement (PRE) NMR.
